HMS Celebrates One Year

The Helensburgh Men’s Shed is celebrating its first anniversary! Our first ‘day of operation’ (ie making sawdust) was on the 13th September 2016. Since then, we have gained more members, moved the Shed from the Parkes Street area to the Stanwell Park Anglican Hall, increased our operations to two days a week and benefitted from a range of Men’s Health initiatives.

The objectives of the Helensburgh Men’s Shed (“Men’s Shed”) are to advance the health and well-being of our members by providing a safe and happy environment where skilled and unskilled men can, in the company of other men,

  1. pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests
  2. learn new skills, practice and pass on old skills
  3. learn about their own health and well-being
  4. receive information, education and training on health and wellbeing issues such as first aid training, men’s health checks, seminars and guest speakers
  5. improve the health and wellbeing of members and reduce the number of men who are at risk from preventable health issues that may emanate from isolation
  6. by their efforts, contribute to their families, their friends, the Men’s Shed and their community
